On Saturdays from 2 – 4pm, we do the tradition of afternoon High Tea. Listed in Historic Hotels of America's Top 25 Tea Experiences, our menu features seasonal assortments of fresh fruit preserves, finger sandwiches, pastries, and shortbreads, all perfectly paired with your favorite tea blends in an exceptionally elegant setting.
The Birth of Prosperity
In the late 19th century, Fort Worth flourished as a booming center of cattle ranching and commerce, fueled by the arrival of the Texas and Pacific Railway. Visionary leaders like Khleber Van Zandt and John Peter Smith founded the Commercial Club in 1885, shaping the city’s economic and civic growth.
The Rise of the Fort Worth Club
By 1915, the Commercial Club—renamed the Fort Worth Club—commissioned architect John James Pollard to create a grand new building. Blending Italianate elegance with masterful brickwork and wrought-iron details, the structure became a magnet for business leaders and socialites alike.
Transformation Through Time
As the Fort Worth Club outgrew its home in 1926, the building transitioned into a bustling commercial hub. From hosting oil barons to housing Mid-Continent Supply Company, the site remained a cornerstone of Fort Worth’s history before finding its next chapter in hospitality.
Preserving History, Embracing Elegance
Reimagined as The Ashton Hotel in 2001, the property celebrates its Italianate architecture, echoing Renaissance Revival styles with cut-stone patterns and Mediterranean influences. A proud member of Historic Hotels of America, The Ashton's elegance today mirrors its storied past.
